The training and determination needed to accomplish it is unparalleled. The symbol of an IRONMAN athlete's triumph—the mark of their discipline—is the ink on their skin. This is IRONMAN Ink.
How has IRONMAN transformed you as a person?
In my training for IRONMAN, I have become more balanced and confident. I know now that I can achieve anything as long as I remain disciplined and ambitious.
When and why did you decide to get your IRONMAN tattoo?
For me, a tattoo reflects a stage of life or a way of life. I said to myself as I trained for IRONMAN that I was going to get a tattoo that reminds me of it. But, it's more than just a reminder, it’s a sign that I have found a sport and a lifestyle that gives me great pleasure.
What do you think your tattoo says to other people who see it?
In Austria this special character (the MDOT) is recognized by triathletes or people who are interested in the sport. I think those are probably consider me an "extreme" athlete but that's not totally true. I finished an IRONMAN and I can identify with it. It’s not just about my splits and finishing time.
How did you come up with your design and what does it symbolize?
A tattoo needs to say something. It tells a story. My tattoo will tell you about my origin and where I finished my first IRONMAN, symbolized by the red-white-red flag. The rest of the tattoo shows the three disciplines: a bicycle chain, waves showing the water is gone and the floor on which you see on the entire MDOT.
Greetings from Austria!
